Merry Christmas!!!

WOW!!! Is it already the week of Christmas??? We've been so busy we hardly even noticed!!
Anyway from our hearts to yours, we wish you a safe, fun, clean-water Holiday. No matter how hard life gets, we'd like to say that you can never forget that you have so many friends, even in the water cleanliness department. Life is like water: Sometimes, you get a little dirtied up, but there are always people to come and clean you up. (Sorry if my attempt at a deep comment was a failed one).
You and Yours,
The Sugar Teens!!!

NOW OR NEVER (stupid HSM3... they took our moto)

Hello Fellow Superheros in the means of WATER POLLUTION *hiss*!!!
We'd like to apologize for our lack of posting stuff. WE HOPE YOU'RE STILL DEDICATED TO STOPPING WATER POLLUTION!!!!
We thought that we'd skip the LEC this year because we're very annoyed with the other people who thought that they'd only do it for the money involved. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE DIRTY WATER GUYS!!! We should do it for the fuzzy feeling you get inside from doing a good thing, not for the sake of money... although money is nice... BUT THAT IS NO NOT THE POINT!!!!!!
Do it for the fuzzies, guys!!
From you ever humble servants to water pollution and the idea of egging CHICO's

Welocome Back!

Welcome back to School! Its thrird-fourth week of school and I guess everything is in wack now. Yes, we know: whatever.
But from our clean-water aching hearts, we hope you can hang in there and maybe even get your science teacher to do a science project that has to do with clean water!
Again, hang in there!

Class is in Session (GRR!)

Well, it's the day we've been dreading since we took that swim yesterday and a cool breeze whipped by and you wanted your jacket. That's right, school.
School: The magical time every year where you get constant death threats from your teacher to get that history report in and your friends stick balloons in your locket on your birthday and then they pop when you open it, getting you that dreaded Lunch detention. But there is an equally, yet much more looked forward to that death threats! CLEAN WATER!!!!!
Here's what you do. Find that one teacher you have that a real enviormentally clean freak. For your science project, art project, or even a English project, clean up some body of water with some friends and incorporate it into the project. You get oodles of extra credit and you and your friends get to have fun. I know us sugar teens are closer than ever and have bunches of fun memories to look back on when we're in our insane asylum in twenty years, singing songs from Enchanted and the Waffle song (but that has nothing to do with cleaning the water. We're just naturally weird).

School's Out

Hey, guys! Summer is just a few agonizing days away, and it's time to start planning if you haven't already. But what about next school year? Do you have any good ideas for getting extra credit? Well, you might know what I'm about to say: enter the Lexus Environmental Challenge! When we did it, we recieved TONS of extra credit from our science teacher...not to mention the money we won and the pride we achieved knowing we'd helped our environment.

What We Did on March 15!!!

Guess what we did!!! On the 15th of March, we went to Creekside Pond in Holladay Utah! We picked up about 128 lbs. of trash including part of a fence, the back of a chair, and a bright pink barbie lunchbox! We were happy to see others cleaning up the park after we left (It's the thought and the action that counts) and thanks again to everyone who's voted!

What YOU Can Do To Keep Water Clean!

You can really do a lot when it comes to keeping the water clean! Here are five easy things to do! You can...

Never EVER pour chemicals down sinks or toilets.

RECYCLE and throw away trash where you KNOW it won't blow away.

HELP CLEAN UP STREAMS!!! (We did that and it was actually pretty fun!)

Plant flowers, shrubs, or other plants around stream beds. This helps with IRRIGATION!!!

Partner up with a teacher, leader of a club, or someone else with authority and help them organize a LOCAL STREAM CLEAN-UP DAY!

Yet Another Wet Experiece

As some of you may know we already cleaned up a pond and we won the first round of the Lexus Environmental Challenge and we are in the process of entering the world challenge. For our second project we decided we needed to educate the public about we are doing and what they can do to help the ever rising problem we are facing. We met and were able to distribute about 200 fliers about water pollution to shops and houses in just two days. We were walking along and we thought that our project needed a little more jazz so that we would feel more confident in our project winning. We realized that the answer to our problem had been staring us in the face all along, and our science teacher had been suggesting it all along as well. We needed to extend our project from our original project and so we decided that we wanted to clean as many ponds and streams as possible before our deadline is up. We cleaned a stream in another park and we didn't get as much garbage as the first time (only about 20 pounds) but we still think we did a great job since the stuff we did find was buried and caught under rocks. We would probably have gathered more but it started to rain and some of our shoes were soaked so we headed home for the day. Even as we cleaned up the garbage, ducks started landing in the stream and so we knew that even though we didn't pick up that much garbage it still made a difference to wildlife.

water pollution facts

about 2/3 of the us estuaries and bays are little or badly polluted by eutrophication

the mississippi river has about 1.5 million metric tons of nitrogen pollution

about 1.2 trillion gallons of untreated water goes into other us waters

about 25% of us beaches have to close because of pollution

asia's river have about 3 times as much bacteria as human waste. disgusting!

within 2004 and 2005 europe's lakes and rivers used for swimming have gotten worse. 10% of those lakes and rivers did not make the standards

only 22.4% of slovakia's bath places meet the standards

in ireland 30% of their lakes and rivers are polluted by sewage or fertilizer

Water Pollution is Happening!!!!!!!!!

Welcome!
